Signage Tenders in Tanzania: A Buyer's Checklist for Comparing Suppliers
Part of: Corporate, Government & Campaigns — all 39 guides in this lane.
A signage tender usually produces quotations that look similar and are not. The difference is in the material, the fabrication, the installation and the support, and those are the parts that determine whether the sign still looks right in year three. A buyer who compares only the total price is comparing the least informative number.
The material is the first check. A fascia board, an acrylic face, a lightbox and a 3D letter set are different products with different lifespans. The quotation should state the material, the thickness and the finish, and the buyer should ask for a sample or a photograph of a previous installation in the same material.
The fabrication is the second. A sign that is assembled from imported modules and a sign that is fabricated in a local workshop can look the same on delivery day and differ in the repair. The buyer should ask where the sign is made, who makes it and what happens when a component fails.
The installation is the third. A sign is only as good as its fixing, and the fixing depends on the wall, the wind load and the height. The quotation should include the access equipment, the electrical connection for an illuminated sign, the permit if required and the waste removal.
The warranty is the fourth. A warranty that covers the paint but not the LED driver, or the structure but not the installation, is a limited promise. The buyer should ask what is covered, for how long and what the response time is.
The programme is the fifth. A multi-site rollout needs a schedule, a site survey, a single point of contact and a reporting format. A supplier who can deliver one sign may not be able to deliver twenty sites across five regions, and the tender should test the capability.
The references are the sixth. A supplier should be able to name clients with similar work and allow a site visit. A photograph is useful, and a visit to an installed sign in the rain is better.

Signage Tenders in Tanzania — questions answered
What should a signage quotation include?
Material, thickness, finish, fabrication, installation, access equipment, electrical connection, permit, waste removal, warranty and delivery date.
How do I compare signage suppliers?
Compare the specification, the material, the installation, the warranty and the references, not only the total price.
What warranty is reasonable?
A warranty should state what is covered, for how long and the response time. A warranty on the paint alone is not a warranty on the sign.
